Collective wisdom and corporate memory in the Civil Service
What
is the scope of Knowledge and Information Management in the Civil Service? There could still be some who might think that records managers spend
their working hours dusting the shelves and digging up papers from overfilled
boxes. Yet, Artificial Intelligence and digital platforms are here to help
these managers make use of the billions of documents across the Government sector
in a safe and efficient way.
There
is, also, the issue of corporate memory and collective wisdom, which should be
recorded, written down and stored properly to enable future retrieval and
exploitation. Those key government policies and decisions plus the techniques
and practices required by the information professionals to keep information
secure, manageable and accessible over the years.
If
you are intrigued by all these, you can watch the KIM profession ‘Knowledge is
Power!’ session from Civil Service Live. Visit the Civil Service Blog
for details.
