GIG welcomes the support and user survey being provided by CILIP in the light of the removal and modification of data from US government department and agency websites. Official data removal and modification has been undertaken under requirements of Executive Orders made by the new Trump Administration.

We urge our members, and readers of this blog, to read CILIP’s statement. We also urge you to contribute to CILIP’s short user survey, which seeks to capture examples of how content, reports, datasets, evidence, and tools which have been removed, hidden or modified by the new administration in the USA are impacting your work, along with any mitigating steps that you are taking. Access the online survey form via this CILIP News Item published on 18 February 2025

Some data has been saved and made available via other routes. Just some examples, but hopefully these are illustrative of the possibilities of accessing copies of data that has been withdrawn or modified. So it may be worth searching more widely!

In addition to CILIP’s survey, GIG will also be interested in hearing how this has impacted you, and what measures are being taken. Please do get in touch secretary.gig@cilip.org.uk
